A Celebration of Unyielding Hope and Unity: "Sails of Life" Children's Festival Held in Zhytomyr

When Faith and Love Unfurl the Sails
Every child deserves a world illuminated by wonder, genuine joy, and unconditional support. The halls of our institution — the "Center for Medical Rehabilitation and Palliative Care for Children" of Zhytomyr Regional Council — resonated with joyful children's laughter, warm embraces, and boundless inspiration as we celebrated our festival of inclusion and creativity: "Sails of Life".
"Sails of Life" is more than a title; it is a profound symbol of inner strength, resilience, and steady progress. For families raising children with special healthcare needs, neurodevelopmental challenges, and complex diagnoses, faith in the child acts as a favorable wind, empowering them to overcome every storm and reach new horizons.

Words of Gratitude from Acting Director Tetiana Shevchenko and the Center's Team
No noble cause is accomplished alone. Behind every happy smile and every milestone in pediatric rehabilitation stands continuous collaboration, compassion, and an earnest dedication to serving others.
On behalf of Acting Director Tetiana Viktorivna Shevchenko and our entire professional team, we extend our deepest respect and sincere gratitude to our key partners, regional leadership, clergy, and philanthropists:

Boundless Respect to our Defenders — The Armed Forces of Ukraine
We understand with absolute clarity that every moment of our celebration, every child's performance, and every peaceful breath is made possible exclusively through the courage of Ukrainian warriors. We pay our highest tribute and deepest gratitude to the Ukrainian servicemen present at the festival: Vadym Yevgenovych Fedorov, Anton Serhiyovych Lazarenko, and Vadym Oleksandrovych Volovetskyi.
During the festival, a charity fundraiser was conducted in support of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, reflecting our collective duty to stand firmly behind those protecting our skies and freedom.

Moving Moments: Stories of Resilience and Children's Talents
The festival was filled with poignant moments that brought tears of joy and pride. One of the most touching highlights was the story of Yuliya, an internally displaced mother who was forced by the war to leave her hometown. Raising two children with complex health needs, she found safety in Zhytomyr and specialized support at our Center. In recognition of her maternal fortitude, love, and perseverance, Yuliya was awarded the honorary "Sails of Life" Cup.
Warm applause greeted father Yevgeniy Karabinskyi, who shared his inspiring journey of parenting and proved that parental belief moves mountains. An honorary trophy was also presented to mother Olha Volodymyrivna Savchenko — an exemplar of dedication, maternal love, and optimism.

Young Talents on Stage and in the Art Gallery
The stage came alive with artistry and joy. The audience warmly cheered our youngest children (under 3 years old), who performed a dance alongside their educators, as well as the joyful percussion ensemble "Merry Musicians".
Ten young creators were awarded commemorative "Sails of Life" medals, certificates, and gifts for their original paintings and handmade crafts: Zakhar Chernysh, Sashko Babych, Hordiy Karplyuk, Lyubomyr Matyushenko, Zinoviy Vasylenko, Anastasiya Kravets, Pavlo Pakholchak, Mykyta Veselskyi, Kostya Pylypchuk, and Nikita Zherebchuk. Their artworks adorned the Center's exhibition hall.

Balloons into Peaceful Skies: Charting our Course Forward
The interactive program featured engaging games with an animator dressed as a giant Kinder Surprise, a dazzling bubble show, adaptive sports sensory courses, art therapy stations, and a sweet treats fair.
To conclude the festival, children, parents, distinguished guests, and the Center's team stepped onto the entrance porch to release vibrant balloons into the sky — symbolizing our collective hopes, faith in victory, and a bright future for every child. We cannot change the wind, but together we unfurl our sails and hold a confident course for life!
