Oleksandr Yakovych Husak passed away

With deep sorrow we announce that on March 22, 2026, at the age of 65, Oleksandr Yakovych Husak passed away — Honored Doctor of Ukraine, laureate of the Oleksandr Fedorovych Herbachevsky regional prize, a wise manager, and a person whose name became synonymous with dedication to the medical profession of the Zhytomyr region.
Oleksandr Yakovych was born on November 29, 1961, in the town of Ruzhyn, Zhytomyr region. He and his wife Maria raised two sons.
For over 40 years, he worked in the medical field of the Zhytomyr region, initially in the Zhytomyr Children's Regional Hospital. From 1996 to 2005, he became the founder of children's neonatology resuscitation, saved the lives of a large number of children, and personally worked as an ambulance resuscitation doctor.
Since 1995 — Deputy Chief Doctor of the Zhytomyr Regional Children's Hospital, later worked in the regional health department from 2005 to 2012. He was then appointed as the chief doctor of the Regional Psychiatric Hospital, and from May 2025, he worked as the Medical Director of the KNP «Center for Medical Rehabilitation and Palliative Care for Children» of the Zhytomyr Regional Council.
Oleksandr Yakovych traversed a significant professional path, leaving a deep mark at every stage of his activities. His many years of work in the Department of Health of the Zhytomyr Regional State Administration became a model of a high state approach to the organization of medicine in the region. As an experienced manager, he contributed to the implementation of important reforms, always prioritizing the interests of the patient and the development of the industry.
His professional path was an example of dedication, wisdom, and high responsibility. For many years, he headed important medical institutions of the region, in particular, the regional psychiatric hospital No. 1, where he proved to be a professional specialist and a prudent administrator capable of making difficult decisions in the most responsible times.
A special place in his life was occupied by the field of rehabilitation. Thanks to his initiative and deep understanding of patients' needs, new standards of care were introduced. His contribution to the development of child rehabilitation and the support of patients with the most complex diagnoses is invaluable.
Colleagues and patients will remember him as a person of exceptional decency. He possessed a rare gift — combining the strictness of a leader with genuine concern for everyone who turned to him for help. Oleksandr Yakovych always supported young specialists, shared his experience, and was a true moral authority for the medical community.
We express our sincere condolences to the family, relatives, friends, and colleagues of Oleksandr Yakovych. We share your pain and bow our heads in sorrow. May the earth be down to him, and may the Lord grant peace to his soul.

- Farewell: will take place on March 24, 2026, from 10:00 to 11:00 in the premises of the municipal institution «Palace of Culture» at the address: 12/5 Svyatoslav Richter St.
- Memorial service: will be held from 12:00 to 13:00 in the St. George's Church at the address: 102 Chudnivska St.
- Burial: will take place at 13:30 at the Korbutivka cemetery.
